Homestays

As a benefit to its dues paying members, The Seattle-Nantes Sister City Association will assist as much as possible in locating and coordinating short term homestays with a local family. Host families are volunteers who have an expressed interest in meeting/helping guests from France. Their French Language skills vary from fluent to none.

Most hosts are professional people who work during the day, some have children and some don't. The homes they live in are as varied as the people themselves; some live in smaller apartments/condominiums and some in homes in or near Seattle. The one thing they all have in common is a true desire to provide a "home away from home". Staying with a family provides the opportunity to share common interests and learn more about each other.

The length of time you can expect to stay with a family is relatively short and it should not be assumed that they are providing "Hotel Service" for you. Your stay should be very limited unless you are part of a group on an educational internship program or a professional exchange. If you are anticipating staying longer, you need to need to make your own alternate arrangements.

Staying with a host family is a privilege. If you choose to take advantage of a homestay opportunity, recognize that you may be asked to be a host in your own Country.

If you have ever participated in a homestay program you already realize that it offers rewards that most people don't have the opportunity to experience.
